Vote Rod Herring August 23, 2022
I have dedicated my entire life to serving others. I have served our nation overseas in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I have served our students as a teacher and coach. I want to continue serving our community as your next County Commissioner.
-Rod
Of all my accomplishments and titles, I am most proud to be a Husband, Father, and Grandfather. I have been married to Adele Herring for almost 20 years. We have two daughters who both attended elementary through high school in Clay County schools. We have two grandsons, Jayson, who we endearingly refer to as Pumpee because of his open heart surgery at only seven days old; and Jordan, our family's newest addition at only 18 months old. Finally, we have three dogs: Pickles, Kisses and Luna.
Adele and I are so proud of our two daughters, Lex and Monique. They are both graduates of the Clay County School District.
Rod and Adele are active members of The Church At Argyle. In addition to his other volunteer service with Ronald McDonald House and the Children's Miracle Network, Rod serves in the choir ministry at church. If you have ever visited the Singing Christmas Tree on Argyle Forest Boulevard during the holiday season you may have heard Rod sing!
For 30 years I have served our nation proudly, both at home and overseas. The first three years of my military service was as a Navy Seabee for Naval Mobility Construction Battalion 14 at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Now, for the past 27 years, I have served in the Air Force Reserves where I handle Combat Communications and Air Transportation Logistics.
As an Airman I have served in multiple exercises and deployments to include the Iraq war and the War in Afghanistan along with several humanitarian efforts around the State of Florida. I have earned multiple awards and decorations and believe my leadership skills make me uniquely qualified to serve on our County Commission.
I have more than 25 years of education experience and have taught from elementary to high school, honors to special needs. For more than a decade I taught at Ridgeview High School. Now, for the past four years, I have served as a school administrator of a public school that exclusively caters to students with Autism or other related disabilities.
In addition to teaching, I have coached and mentored thousands of students and student’s athletes throughout my more than two decades in education. I have a Master's Degree in Education and earned my Bachelor's Degree from Savannah State University.
